The main focus of the Agriculture Science Program will be on farming (fruits or vegetables). Students will be able to take some samples home. The Poultry program will focus on how to raise chickens, and turkeys for the productions of eggs. These Sciences are considered a form of life long skills. More and more people are now looking for products (fruits and vegetables) that are organic and free- range poultry eggs. These students will grow fruits and vegetables free of pesticides and fertilizers. Students will be able to take home what they harvest to consume at home. We do ask that if you are not interested in eating or using any of the products the children produce that you let the teacher know so we will not send samples home. In order to complete the program the students will have to work outdoors, handle farming tools, and dirt. Those students that are allowed to work with poultry (chickens and turkeys) will need to handle/feed them.
Your child is not obligated to participate in either program.
At the end of the program, the students will get a certificate of completion for each science program. The children will become the youngest group to officially participate in an AG and Poultry Science program.
